John On Podcasting:

I got a call from long time friend and “consiglieri” (as we often Joke) Andrew Zarian the other day. He eagerly explained his venture into podcasting and asked me if I might join him as a co-host. Our first show was to be Thursday night. After excitedly accepting his offer I began to have second thoughts about the deal. Did I want the stresses and pressure of live radio? Could I offer the dedication the show needs to gain popularity? Or did I even want to bother? On the Wednesday before the show I talked myself into being excited about it. After a long and arduous day I reached the studio 10 minutes before our first live show was to go on air. I was totally unprepared, high strung and practically out of breath as I ruffled through Andrew’s show notes. As Andrew called the 3 minute warning I did what any man would've done. I dumped some tequila in a hot cup of tea and sat in front of the mic.

It was a strange feeling ,the only way I can describe it was that I felt artificially important. After all, who was going to care about my opinion? To get around this I decided to do what I always do convince my self, that people are mostly wrong and I am mostly right (a trait that has always done a disservice to me).  After a few uneasy minutes and a bit of a tug of war to find our rhythm we settled in. I was quickly over my anxiety and began enjoying the experience, playing with all the fancy equipment, and Andrews “megabuck” microphones (that he can't stop telling us about) made me feel  like a kid again. Flashbacks of  using the microphone feature on my cassette player when I was 8 flew through my head. The entire experience was quite strange and yet exciting at the same time.

Aside from a small part on am radio several years ago I bring no experience to the table whatsoever. Luckily with the help of Andrew and Joe we all became comfortable and were able to create something which I believe is great. It’s hard to watch yourself and not find everything that goes on terribly interesting, but were gonna leave it to the fans to let us know how we are doing.  We are currently working on some great ideas for upcoming shows and I have to say, I couldn't be happier about being part of The Andrew Zarian Show…See You Thursday!
